[permanently open] Bad News Bears Meme

The Bad News Bears Meme

...wait. No. Bad.

Person A is chilling. Minding their own business. Maybe knitting. Ever thought about knitting? Never tried it myself but shit's supposedly pretty fun, you should look into it. Point being, Person A is minding their own business.

Person B enters the scene. Person B has a mission. See, Person B has news for Person A. Maybe they got mail addressed to the wrong house? Maybe they were a messenger sent on a grave mission? Maybe they're the originator of the news. But whatever the case may be, they have news. And it's of grave importance.

- Post!
- Tag other people.
- Deliver bad news. Casually mention that their dog got hit, or suggest that they should look into moving as someone set their house on fire. Be creative.
- Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy.

[one is definitely worse than the other, but they're both kind of balls, let's be honest.

At least it eases the burden of trying to keep a secret that size. Hawk grins, eyes bright.]
Thanks, Kon. You'd be the first I'd call, too.

Well, long stories are always good for an evening's entertainment. [he flicks the rest of the Talon a look, though- if Kon's worried about people overhearing, he can wait.]
tactilekonesis: (shakes fist!!)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-08-24 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[He sighs. Hawk's got him there - the kids're shuffling into the various theaters, and even those that aren't are too preoccupied to care about this story. He gets closer to Hawk, folding his arms and floating maybe just an inch off the ground.]

So... there's this thing, the Book of Hope. It's this super rare book on Kryptonian history - and technically property of Superman and his family, but Lex somehow managed to get his hands on it.

And he wasn't keen on sharing. [He shrugs.] So when he lent it to some museum in the UK, I was interested in borrowing it back for a bit.

Then, some witch and a police officer find me and... the rest is kinda history.
desertdaggers: (the shine of preparation)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-08-24 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hawk nods along, shifting so that she can keep his eyes on Kon.]

The Book of Hope, huh? Sounds like kind of a big deal. [doesn't sound as though it actually has any powers, though, which was his first thought. Still, it makes more sense to him now, and he nods, a frown beginning to form.]

And they're not too pleased about it. [he pulls one hand down his face for a moment.] Given the lineage factor, you could maybe pull on that, but at this point… I don't know if anyone'll weigh it so heavily.

…A witch?
tactilekonesis: (seriously?)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-08-24 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really. There was a smart way to go about it, and I kind of. Ignored said smart way.[The book was a collection of stories about Kon's ancestors, and so it holds a lot more weight for him than any other book in existence.

Which was why he so wasn't thinking about it rationally when he should've been.]

Yeah. Don't know how else to explain her powers - she used a forcefield an' stuff to keep me in. I would've had it in my hands were they not around for some reason or another. [He's also aware of how much he sounds like a supervillain.] Figures even their small towns have local heroes.
desertdaggers: (bugs mean poison)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-08-27 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[which is why Hawk can't really blame him for it, either. And Kon knows that well enough by now, so Hawk just sighs.]

We'll figure something out. [assuming Kon remains interested in it; assuming trouble over it comes their way.]

A forcefield, huh? Doesn't sound too agressive, at least… [it is a little. Hawk raises his eyebrows for a moment before shrugging.] Well, everyone deserves protection.
tactilekonesis: (shakes fist!!)

... dw why do you hate notifs

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-11 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but an American? In the middle of nowhere in Wales?

[It was England, Kon. Mastering world geography would help in the long run.] Nevermind. So how much hot water am I in right now?
desertdaggers: (bugs mean poison)

too tasty? who knows

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-11 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
It makes you wonder what else might have been around.

[Wales sounds so much more dramatic, though.

He sucks in a breath for a moment, letting it out with a sigh.]

I'm pretty sure they want some chunk of flesh. They'll probably settle for having you be really, really uncomfortable for a while, at least.
tactilekonesis: (seriously?)

it can go on a no-notif diet B(

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-11 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Don't give him Hannibal flashbacks, bro. No one wants to become part of a human stew or pot roast or whatever dumb things that guy's done.]

Yeah? They're already succeeding.

[A poor imitation of another hero's voice, probably Green Lantern's:] "I can't believe you did that, Kon! You're a hero! You know better!"

Considering I did that? I... don't think I do.
desertdaggers: (you don't say)

good idea!

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-12 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[that wasn't even what he was thinking, he is not really into that kind of thing. He just keeps doing it! not okay.]

[he snorts a little at the impression, leaning back. And sure, that's kind of a deal- but he doesn't want Kon to think this'll ruin things forever. He doesn't think it should, anyway.]

Everyone falls over sometimes. And that- on something that important to you? I think a little stumbling's understandable. As long as you don't make a habit of it, we'll be fine.
tactilekonesis: (nervous here)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-12 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want it to be a habit. [Because the heroes are right - this isn't him. He never goofs up this badly, because all this time, he thought he took after Superman. Instead, he might've had some of Lex rubbing off him too.

That worries him more than he wants to admit.]
And I went to all that trouble for nothing. Book's not even here. Last I heard, it's sitting pretty somewhere in London.
desertdaggers: (bugs mean poison)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-16 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
So we'll keep an eye on it. You'll be fine, Kon. [he has the utmost faith in Kon, after all- regardless of any other influences.]

Still on loan, huh? [so… what do they do now… He frowns, pressing his knuckles against the tabletop.] Do you want to get a look at it, at least?
tactilekonesis: (thinking about it)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-19 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally, yeah. I'm gonna wait a little bit before I go myself - since, you know, I tried to take it back an' all.

[He pauses, scrutinizing Hawk...] But if you wanna go? I can't exactly stop you.
desertdaggers: (and a clear blue sky)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-24 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Seems sensible.

[he half-smiles, shrugging.] Well… I can't deny I'm curious. But I think I'd like to see it with you. You can explain exactly what we're looking at, then. And we could make a vacation out of it! [perhaps.]
tactilekonesis: (challenge accepted)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-25 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Heck yeah we could!

[He'd swear normally, but there may be tiny little ones nearby. Children have the worst habit of sneaking up on him!] If you can wait until the press dies down, then I can probably drag you over there - and this time, I'm gonna avoid the local law enforcement.
desertdaggers: (these are sharp)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-26 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
[it's true.]

Sounds like a plan to me, then! [he chuckles, eyes bright] Is it really dragging if I'm suggesting it?
tactilekonesis: (cheerful kid)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2015-09-27 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. I mean, it's only "dragging" if we go spontaneously - and it's not like that never happens.

[He does feel a lot better, though. As much as it sucks that Hawk knows, Kon also couldn't keep this a secret for much longer.]
desertdaggers: (you don't say)

[personal profile] desertdaggers 2015-09-28 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
True enough! [he laughs, relaxing more.] Let's sort this out later, then. When we're not likely to suddenly be busy at a moment's notice.

[and he'll go back to figuring out what the matter is with the popcorn machine this time.]
