[What greets Asbel when the door opens is not so much a person as it is a pile of fabric, weighed down by a cloak that is far heavier and more concealing than the weather strictly calls for. Were it not for Frederic's assurances that this was "an important guest," this would no doubt be suspicious indeed, though Asbel's heart may well remain in his throat as this mysterious stranger shuffles in and takes great pains to close the door behind them as if wanting to ensure they won't be disturbed.

... all right, perhaps that's more than a bit suspicious, though surely Frederic wouldn't have allowed just anyone in to have an unscheduled audience with the Lord of Lhant... right?

It isn't until the door clicks back into place and signals its closure that the cloaked figure turns around to face Asbel; though the hood is drawn down low enough to conceal the majority of this person's face, the smile on what little can be seen is impossible to miss. The warm chuckle that issues from that mouth as the visitor lifts their hands to pull back the hood (hands clad in very familiar gloves, no less) is unmistakable-- there's only one person who laughs like that...]

Don't tell me you greet all of your guests that way, Asbel.

[And there's only one person who would tease Asbel like that right out of the gate.]

Although I must say, it does make me feel a bit special...

[Hood now off, Richard steps forward with a smile still on his face. At least now the cloak makes sense-- there would be no end of gossip if the King of Windor simply showed up in Lhant without any of his customary entourage. Of course, once Sophie finds out, any attempts at secrecy will likely go out the window...]
