[Because this is Asch. The last (how many?) years have been compiled as one of those tragic backstories.]

...Even if none of them were destroyed, there are other ways planets change. Abnormalities can develop in their cores, weather patterns can shift, people can overthrow the natural order of things. A single planet is nothing to the multiverse.

[nozomiracle]

[Hey, Nozomi has the same tragic backstory as you. Well. Some of it. And she still thinks you both just got lost.]

That sounds complicated. I guess we should ask about it.

Tch... [Suggesting that it can still be bad. Is it just him, or is her optimism becoming less optimistic and slightly more reasonable?]

[A snort.] And you just assume it's true because someone who looks like me says it is?

But she does! And you guys always act like you're siblings. You even fight.

[Asch fights with everybody who won't leave him alone.]

[Another snort.] Of course we fight; that doesn't make her my sister. And that doesn't make us family.

Why are you so mad at her?

[It's a complicated question with no one answer. Asch scowls for a moment, trying to pinpoint exactly why he's so angry at her, her in particular. And not just because she's "Luke", a replica. Something that isn't entirely petty like the way she butts into everything without knowing all the details. It isn't easy. In fact, he's not sure he even has an answer anymore. Any answer he could give is stupid or had become irrelevant. He can't be mad at Luke for being a replica... that was never really the reason, even though he was replaced. And he can't be mad at Luke for being Luke because as pathetic as he was, as irritating as she can be, Asch has actually come to tolerate Luke. Or at least accept the fact that she isn't entirely useless.]

[Asch throws her a look. He's never been much for learning about technology that isn't useful, but he knows about video game and cartoons from one of his old jobs on the Thor... And he knows dramas in the more traditional sense.]

No. It's more complicated than that.

[He crosses his arms, glancing away again.] Do you know what a replica is?

[nozomiracle]

...Like a copy they make of a painting so you can have it in your house when the real one is at the museum? That's it, right?

[Well, at least she isn't completely off... Maybe he should be grateful. He frowns and closes his eyes, as if this entire conversation's giving him a migraine.]

On Auldrant there was a technology called "fomicry" that created replicas. Its use on humans was forbidden, but that didn't stop everyone.

Luke is my replica.

...So they made another you, except a girl, because of your guys's world's science? Why would they do that? Did your parents want another kid?

[Asch bristles slightly. It's been a long time, but the bitterness is still there. A dull ache. He doesn't intend to say any more than he has to.]

...The Luke you know isn't from my dimension.

[nozomiracle]

...That's more confusing. So she's actually another Asch-san's repli-thing? Like the nice one we met at the station?
