[One of the downsides of living in Gotham? Supervillains tended to attack almost every other week. Tom's mom had been considering moving down to Brooklyn for a while - and with this job offer looming in the distance, it was probably a matter of when, not if. With this current supervillain attack?
The move would definitely be closer than Tom thought. He hadn't exactly expected to be in the same place at the same time as the Penguin, much less be around some of his goons.
Like, really? He was a public school kid. They taught martial arts as a required class. What were they expecting, him to go down without a fight? If he wanted to, he could unleash his inner cat---

He wasn't unleashing that inner cat, not unless he was about to die and he had no other choice. He remembered what happened to the poor neighbor's dog in kindergarten, and again in 8th grade. Tom didn't like fighting. He wasn't a fighter. Which is why he was stuck here, in this skyscraper, with not much hope for a way out. Dammit. Some days, he really wished he lived elsewhere.]
